Frequently asked questions

Post-Op & Protein Questions

Why was Bari Body created for post-op use?

Bari Body was created by a bariatric nurse who has worked closely with patients navigating protein intake after surgery.

While whey protein is commonly recommended, many people find thick, sweet shakes become difficult to tolerate over time.

Bari Body offers a lighter, neutral collagen protein option that dissolves easily into everyday foods and drinks — making protein feel more manageable.

Why do some post-op patients struggle with whey?

After surgery:

Stomach capacity is reduced

Texture tolerance can change

Very sweet flavours may feel overwhelming

Thick liquids can feel heavy

Whey protein works well for some people — but not everyone tolerates it long term.

Many patients prefer a thinner, more neutral option once they move beyond early fluid stages.

Is collagen easier to tolerate than whey?

Many post-operative patients describe collagen as feeling lighter and easier to incorporate into daily routines compared to traditional whey shakes.

Because Bari Body dissolves into foods and drinks without creating a thick milkshake texture, some people find it more comfortable to use daily.

Individual tolerance will always vary.

Is collagen a complete protein?

Collagen is not considered a complete protein because it does not contain all essential amino acids.

It is best used as part of a varied diet that includes other protein sources.

Which stage post-op can I use Bari Body?

This depends on your individual recovery plan.

As a general guide:

During early fluid stages, follow your prescribed plan carefully.

Some people introduce collagen during full fluids if tolerated.

In puree, soft food and maintenance stages, Bari Body can be mixed into yoghurt, oats, coffee, smoothies or baking.

Protein plans should always be individualised.

🥄 How to Use Bari Body

How do I take it?

Mix one serving into:

Coffee

Tea

Smoothies

Yoghurt

Oats

Baking

Soups

It dissolves in both hot and cold liquids.

Does it change the taste?

Bari Body is formulated to be neutral in flavour and dissolve smoothly without altering taste or texture.

Taste perception may vary between individuals.

Can I add it to hot drinks?

Yes. Bari Body can be added to coffee or tea. Normal beverage temperatures do not significantly reduce its protein value.

How often can I take it?

You can use Bari Body daily as part of your overall protein intake. Individual protein needs vary depending on your stage, body size and goals.

👶 Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Can I use Bari Body while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Collagen peptides are a form of protein, and protein requirements increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Our collagen is produced using traditional enzymatic hydrolysis processes and is regulated under the same consumer protection standards as other dietary proteins.

There is currently limited research specifically studying collagen supplementation in pregnant or breastfeeding women. No serious adverse events have been reported globally in association with bioactive collagen peptides over many years of use.

Because pregnancy and lactation are unique physiological stages, we recommend discussing any supplement use with your healthcare professional to ensure it aligns with your individual needs.

Why don’t you state it is “safe” during pregnancy?

In many markets, food supplements are not permitted to be directly promoted to pregnant or breastfeeding women, and specific clinical research in these groups is limited.

For this reason, we encourage personalised guidance before introducing any supplement during these stages.
